U.S. Rep. Glenn “GT” Thompson (R-PA) has proposed bipartisan legislation that would ease federal student loan debt for America’s young farmers and ranchers entering the profession.
The congressman sponsored the Young Farmer Success Act, H.R.
9974, on July 27 alongside three original cosponsors, including U.S. Rep. Joe Courtney (D-CT), to make young farmers and ranchers eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
“The Young Farmers Success Act will offer incentives to young people entering the agricultural workforce, and invests in our future and national security.”
That’s true public service that should be recognized with eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.”
