Southern Interior is now under a series of air quality warnings due to fire smoke. The North Okanagan, Shuswap, Nicola, South Thompson and Cariboo regions are now under an orange air quality warning, issued by the province. All other regions south of Williams Lake, including the central and south Okanagan are under a yellow advisory. The provincial government says it will issue the next air quality update on Saturday. The Air Quality Health Index, which measures the health impacts of air pollution on a scale of one to 10+, with 10+ representing the highest health risk, rated 10 on Friday morning in Kamloops.
