A Kelowna man accused in the high-profile killing of his estranged wife last summer pleaded guilty Friday to a charge dealing with a separate matter. James Plover admitted to breaching a no-contact order that was imposed after he was charged with the July 2025 first-degree murder of Bailey McCourt. Ahead of sentencing, defence lawyer Cory Armour requested a psychiatric assessment to determine whether Plover may have an underlying disorder. He is accused of chasing McCourt down in a public parking lot in broad daylight on July 4, 2025, fatally bludgeoning her and seriously injuring another woman.
