Srinagar, July 31 : Member of Parliament for the Anantnag–Rajouri constituency, Mian Altaf Ahmad, has urged the administration and traffic authorities to ensure smooth movement of fruit-laden trucks on the Srinagar–Jammu National Highway (NH-44), citing repeated traffic disruptions that are causing heavy losses to the horticulture sector.
In a post on X, Altaf Ahmad said the recurring disruptions on the vital highway are adversely affecting the transportation of fresh fruit from Kashmir to markets across the country.
He called upon the administration and @Traffic_hqrs to guarantee uninterrupted and prioritized passage for trucks carrying perishable produce.
The MP said delays on NH-44 are resulting in severe economic losses for local fruit growers and dealers because of the highly perishable nature of the produce.
He stressed that timely transportation is essential to preserve the quality of fruits and ensure fair returns for farmers and traders.
