As the clock continues to tick away ahead of the MLB trade deadline on Monday, the New York Mets are reportedly seeking a strong return if they move Freddy Peralta.
Per The Athletic's Will Sammon and Ken Rosenthal, the Mets have asked interested teams for a "top-100 prospect and more" in their early conversations about a Peralta deal.
Looking back at recent history, it has been difficult for teams trading away quality starters in their walk year to get significant value back.
The closest parallel might be from July 2024 when Jack Flaherty was acquired by the Los Angeles Dodgers from the Detroit Tigers.
Peralta's value wouldn't seem to be particularly high as he boasts a 4.99 ERA in 113.2 innings this season.
