A sunken Nazi warship has resurfaced in the Danube owing to falling water levels. The vessel, dating back to the Second World War, was exposed on the riverbed of the Danube in Prahovo, Serbia, in the heatwave sweeping across Europe. The boat is believed to have been scuttled by the Germans as they fled the Russian Red Army in the final days of the conflict. The EU has previously committed to recover similar Kriegsmarine wrecks, which have emerged across the Danube, Europe's second-largest river, in recent years. Further north in Bulgaria, the remains of a woolly mammoth were found in the Danube near the northeastern city of Ruse.
