Beyond the list of usual suspects known to be available — Dustin May, JoJo Romero, Ryne Stanek, Lars Nootbaar — the Cardinals are at least open to offers on first baseman Alec Burleson, per Passan. Burleson isn’t platooned strictly in St. Louis, but there’s an argument that he ought to be. Though he doesn’t draw great marks for his defense at first base, Burleson isn’t a liability there either. A Burleson trade isn’t necessarily likely, but the Cardinals aren’t shutting any doors. A free agent at season’s end, Romero feels like a lock to be dealt now that the Cardinals are going down this path.
