AstraZeneca and Daiichi Sankyo's TROP2-targeting drug Datroway has been approved by the European Commission for some previously untreated patients with metastatic triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), its second indication. The approval covers the use of Datroway (datopotamab deruxtecan) as a first-line monotherapy for TNBC patients who are not candidates for PD-1/PD-L1 inhibitor-based immunotherapy. The antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) is also approved in the EU as a second-line therapy for unresectable or metastatic HR-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer. AZ and Daiichi say their drug is the only TROP2 therapy that has been shown to improve overall survival (OS) in PD-1/PD-L1-ineligible TNBC. "Today's approval of Datroway brings an antibody drug conjugate with a differentiated clinical profile underpinned by a strong survival benefit to people with this aggressive disease," he added.
