Council has approved the de-designation of a heritage home in Simcoe to minimize maintenance costs for its owner.
Norfolk County council has voted to support the de-designation of a heritage home in Simcoe to minimize maintenance costs for the property’s owner.
In a 4-3 vote, councillors went against staff’s recommendation to keep the designation on what is referred to as the MacKay/Black residence located at 841 Norfolk Street North.

The home was originally built and owned by Alexander MacKay, a known figure in Norfolk County’s pioneer history.
