Greensboro (61-38, 19-14) tied the game with one run in the bottom of the first inning against Hot Rods starter Jadon Bercovich. Diaz reached on an error and Smith socked a two-run home run to center field, making it 8-4 Hot Rods. Hot Rods reliever Jackson Lancaster (1-0) picked up the win, going twoscoreless frames, allowing one hit while striking out three.
