Colorado Parks and Wildlife is asking anglers to limit fishing as rising water temperatures and low precipitation threaten aquatic life.
Parks and Wildlife has already implemented voluntary fishing closures across more than 400 miles of river in the state, including on portions of the Colorado, Eagle, Crystal and Roaring Fork rivers.
Parks and Wildlife also advises anglers to avoid crowded areas and to have an alternative fishing spot planned.
The agency recommends anglers use a handheld thermometer to test water conditions and move to cooler, higher-elevation waters once temperatures approach 71 degrees.
More information, including a list of current fishing closures, can be found at CPW.state.co.us/fishing .
