Michigan ranks near the bottom of U.S. states, if you believe a new ranking from U.S. news. 46 on the 2026 Overall Best State Rankings list released earlier this week. Other states in the bottom of the list were Arkansas, New Mexico, Mississippi, Alaska and Louisiana. For what it’s worth, the Top 5 states in order were Utah, South Dakota, Minnesota, North Dakota and Nebraska. It’s the second consecutive year for Utah at the top spot according to the U.S. News.
