Despite continuing issues with interagency coordination, federal broadband has improved over the last four years, according to the Government Accountability Office.
Von Ah noted that a 2022 GAO report report found significant fragmentation in rural broadband programs.
The 2022 report recommended the Executive Office of the President create a national broadband strategy.
The largest agencies administering broadband programs are the Agriculture Department, Federal Communications Commission, National Telecommunications and Information Administration, and the Treasury.
"I'm still concerned about the fragmentation, of course,” Von Ah testified.
