The government plans to include martial arts in compulsory sports education for students of classes four and five at primary schools, State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj said on Friday.
"Martial arts is not merely a means of self-defence.
The state minister said the government is strengthening sports activities in primary education and giving importance to martial arts as part of compulsory sports education for classes four and five.
He said martial arts can help students develop discipline, leadership qualities and self-defence skills, contributing to the creation of a healthy, skilled and humane generation.
At the end of the programme, the state minister presented black belts to the recipients and congratulated them on their achievement.
