The Boulder City Council decided Thursday not to slow scheduled minimum wage increases for tipped workers, ending, for now, a yearlong fight over restaurant labor costs. Boulder City Council raised the city’s minimum wage by 8% last year rather than 15%, largely out of concern for local restaurants. The city report also found that restaurant workers are among the lowest-paid employees in Colorado and that pay across the industry varies widely. Attendees cheered when Brockett announced that the council would take no action, leaving tipped wage increases to proceed on schedule.
