For those who don’t know the event: the FilmLight Colour Awards are an industry competition rather than a grading application. Entry does not require Baselight, a FilmLight facility or a specific colour-management pipeline. If an entry is nominated, FilmLight says it will contact the rights holder before using moving images for promotional purposes. That policy is particularly relevant to projects whose public release falls between the entry deadline and 30 September eligibility cut-off. The rules say those projects will remain private and that FilmLight will not announce them without the applicant’s prior agreement.
