In a glimpse of the future, electric car maker BMW has recently upped its use of humanoid robots in its factory at Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina, USA.
The facility employs 11,000 people who have now been joined by the humanoids, known as Figure 03.
They follow on from a test of a previous test version of the humanoid, unsurprisingly known as Figure 02.
The robots are an example of so-called Physical AI, joining up the physical world with AI.
Essentially, Figure 03 will sort the parts into a trolley where the parts are presented in the correct way.
