Lawmakers earmarked $40 million across four years to keep a golf tournament in Greensboro on the PGA Tour's top tier and $25 million for the Military World Games in Charlotte next summer.
The legislation gives $7.5 million to UNC-Charlotte for on-campus sites and athlete housing for the Military World Games.
The $40 million for golf aims to keep the Wyndham Championship on the PGA Tour's Championship Series.
Officials plan to create a Championship Series for the top 120 or so players and a lower-tier Challenger Series.
About 24 contests will make up the Championship Series, including major championships, playoff matches, and the Players Championship.
