A free community recycling event will be held in South Haven on Saturday. “We are going to be collecting household hazardous waste,” Marshall said. Marshall says the program is paid for with the conservation district millage and it helps protect the environment in Van Buren County. Marshall says during last year’s recycling event, they collected 300 pounds of foam, 782 tires, just under 3,000 pounds of electronics, 3,360 pounds of hazardous waste, and 2,300 gallons of oil-based paint. It’s open to all Van Buren County residents.
