The countdown of the top sports moments from Newton High School during the 2025-2026 school year is at #6, and occurred at the Girls State Swim Meet on November 13th and 14th of last year at the University of Iowa Aquatic Center. She was 5th in the 100-yard freestyle with a personal best time of 52.89, and 9th in the 50-yard freestyle at 24.2. Barton also teamed up with her younger sister Temple Barton, along with Reid McCloud and Tori White to place 9th in the 200-yard and 400-yard freestyle relays, with times of 1:40.39 and 3:40.87. “It’s fun because my sister Temple gets to swim with me. Harper Barton helped the Newton girls swim team score 61 points at the state meet, placing them 13th overall.
