A 36-year-old trust and estate administrator from Humansdorp was convicted on 14 counts of theft this week after pleading guilty to stealing more than R6 million from deceased accounts.
He said Claasen, who was the sole director of Ancoris Fiduciary Services (Pty) Ltd, siphoned the money from 14 deceased estates.
"The State proved that the funds were used for her personal benefit, in blatant breach of the fiduciary duties she owed to grieving families and vulnerable beneficiaries.
Claasen, who is out on bail of R1 000, will be back in the Gqeberha Commercial Crimes Court on the 20th of October for a pre-sentencing report.
