Comment on Richard Parr Associates creates crafted timber boathouse in Suffolk by Christopher Boyce

When closed, the building reads as a compact volume which can be opened via large vertical sliding timber shutters to reveal the views over the sea wall.
Inside, the fresh oak is all exposed, crafted as a sheltered space with integrated seating and a table.
Left untreated, the timber will weather to a silver tone.
Rather than treating the openings as conventional doors, we developed a series of large vertical sliding oak shutters.
Over time, the untreated oak will weather towards the colours of the reed thatch and surrounding marsh.
