It has been a pretty dry summer so far across much of the state, and the latest Drought Monitor update attests that. Almost all of Minnesota is at least abnormally dry (95.3%), with 76% in at least moderate drought, including the metro. And 35%, mainly in northern and western Minnesota, is in severe drought. We'll then see a very pleasant start to August this weekend with metro highs in the mid-80s and lots of sunshine. A few more storm chances exist next week, but I won't get my hopes up just yet.
