A recent federal rule change to student visa lengths created additional uncertainty for Georgetown University international students as they await updated guidance from the government and university. Georgetown’s Office of Global Services, an advisory office for international students, will revise its recommendations for international students based on DHS’s forthcoming implementation guidelines, the university announced July 17. Anshuraj Pal (CAS ’27), an international student studying economics, said the change will complicate post-graduation plans for international students looking to remain in the United States. But she added that a “discretionary” process that unfairly approves some students while denying others would be “disastrous for universities and for international students.” Serhii Li (SFS ’28), an international student from Poland, said he sees the change as yet another administrative burden for international students.
