Rwanda to replace army and police contingents on mission in Mozambique

Today, the Army Chief of Staff of the Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), Major General Vincent Nyakarundi, addressed a joint contingent of RDF and Rwanda National Police personnel at Kami Barracks as they prepared to deploy to Cabo Delgado, Mozambique, to replace their colleagues currently serving on the mission.
The briefing was attended by the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Operations, Commissioner of Police Vincent B. Sano.
In his remarks, Major General Vincent Nyakarundi conveyed the message from the President of the Republic Paul Kagame and Commander-in-Chief of RDF stressing the importance of discipline, force protection, and strong force cohesion as key pillars for mission success.
He reminded the contingent that their primary responsibility is to protect civilians from the threat of terrorism.
The briefing also emphasized the evolving security situation, calling on the troops to remain vigilant, adapt effective counter-terrorism tactics, and intensify operations to neutralize threats.
