Volunteers of America Western Washington (VOAWW) has launched the Old Friends Club, a Dementia Day program at the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center designed to support people with early to mid-stage dementia while providing respite for caregivers.
The Old Friends Club is affiliated with the national Old Friends Club nonprofit and offers social activities, guided exercise, arts programming and other activities intended to promote quality of life and independence.
“Giving those with dementia an opportunity to remain engaged, socialize, laugh, and feel comfortable is paramount to their quality of life,” said Elias Coblentz, coordinator of VOAWW’s Old Friends Club program.
The Lynnwood program meets Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Lynnwood Neighborhood Center.
Beginning Sept. 1, the Everett program will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Carl Gipson Center.
