Lucas Vigilante was going through some of his old school memorabilia two years ago when he discovered a certificate commemorating his victory in the 1976 sports day book-balancing race at Manor Junior School, Barking. "I got a really great response from the school, they made a really big deal of the visit," said Lucas. He was able to visit the school in July to get his certificate signed by the current headteacher, Clare D’Netto, with the school photographer present to capture the moment. "Mrs D’Netto got every child in there to balance books on their head and introduced me as the 1976 school book-balancing champion," said Lucas. He previously sponsored the planting of a small forest in the school grounds for the 60th anniversary of the school being founded.
