The Italian-born member of the Order of Discalced Carmelites (OCD) said the Gospel passage sheds light on Fr. Monga's life and death, inviting the faithful to thank God for the young Priest's ministry and to trust that his sacrifice will bear fruit of hope for the Church and the people of CAR. Despite the difficult conditions, he said Christian communities gathered along the route to bid farewell to the Catholic Priest. A particularly moving moment during the memorial Mass came when Dieudonné Cardinal Nzapalainga presented to Fr. Monga's family and the Priests of Bangassou Diocese a box containing soil collected from the site where the Priest was killed.
