Louisville’s economic development organization is putting data center development on its broad slate of federal advocacy priorities that it says will help the city grow. One Louisville announced its federal advocacy priorities during a gathering of local and regional business and civic leaders in Washington D.C. earlier this month. One Louisville’s priorities include federal backing for emerging technologies they say Louisville could help build, including electric and autonomous vehicles. It also includes data centers, which can bring construction jobs and tax revenue, but have prompted opposition in Louisville over concerns including their huge demand for electricity . In the Washington D.C. fly-out last week, about 80 Louisville and Lexington-area business and community leaders met with federal officials including Rep. Morgan McGarvey and Sen. Rand Paul.
