A Different World showcased to the world the culture and community of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) through the fictional Hillman College. More recently, the 2024 A Different World HBCU College Tour brought cast members to campuses across the country to encourage enrollment and raise scholarship funding. Decades later, A Different World continues to inspire new generations while leaving an enduring legacy on higher education and Black culture. TV One will kickoff its 39th anniversary and usher in a new generation with an A Different World Marathon, every Thursday in September starting at 8P/7C.
