During a monthly inspection of the Royal Oak Library, staff discovered bedbugs, prompting the library's closure on Tuesday, July 28.
Ziggy and Archie came from a shelter and were trained in detecting bed bugs.
Library Director Sandy Irwin said she thinks the bugs came into the library via an infected person.
"It's clear we believe at least one person using the library has a bed bug infestation," she said, according to the Free Press.
Monthly bed bug inspections started after workers discovered an insect problem two years ago.
