Instead of the equity actors who typically grace the main stage at Westport’s Depot Theatre, this season the lights came up on a group of local teens. For the Depot Theatre Academy senior program, two months of rehearsals culminated in eight performances across two weekends in early June. A concert-style performance of a show entails reading and singing through a script on stage, typically without scene-blocking or choreography. The Dark Night series invites performers to the stage in the time between main stage productions. Additionally, the Academy has provided opportunities to learn stage managing, tech and sound, costuming and set design.
