Orange County Business Journal
Rivian Automotive Inc. reported today a 27% increase in second quarter revenue to $1.7 billion, partly driven by the quarter’s 14% jump in electric vehicle deliveries.
Analysts had estimated a 20.5% increase to $1.57 billion in revenue for the period ended June 30.
With the launch of the automaker’s R2 SUV in June, Rivian said deliveries have already increased by 3,000 units in early July.
“I believe R2 will be a game changer for our customers and a driver of Rivian’s long-term growth and profitability,” founder and Chief Executive RJ Scaringe said in a statement.
Following the Q2 report, Rivian shares rose 2.1% to $17.19 apiece during after-hours trading (Nasdaq: RIVN).
