Set four years after the previous installment in the series, “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” highlights Peter Parker’s struggles to retain his identity. Through battles with depression, a more reflective Parker hones in on his responsibilities as Spider-Man to the people of New York. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, “Brand New Day” focuses on Parker, played by Tom Holland, four years after the events of 2021’s “Spider-Man: No Way Home” where Parker asks Doctor Strange to make the world forget who Parker is. During one standout scene, the camera sneaks into Spider-Man’s mask as he descends into the city streets from atop a skyscraper. “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” highlights the darker themes of being a superhero while providing great fight scenes and dynamic cinematography, making this a movie with enough layers and excitement to rewatch over and over.
