Texas track and field’s long distance roster got a little faster Wednesday with the signing of Kenyan distance runner Dennis Kipkemoi Kipkogei. The Kenyan recorded a standout performance at the Berlin Half Marathon in March 2026. AdvertisementHis time was six seconds faster than American Conner Mantz’s record-eligible national mark of 59:17, set at the 2025 Houston Half Marathon. “I came here to break the course record and I am happy that I managed it,” Kipkogei said in a Gutenberg Half Marathon Mainz race report by RunOhio. While road and track performances do not always translate directly to cross country courses, Kipkogei’s 10,000-meter speed gives Texas a runner capable of competing near the front of the NCAA field.
