To celebrate 130 years since the market opened, Calderdale Council hosted the summer fete themed event, with visitors enjoying live music, kids’ activities, market tours and much more. And the Albany Arcade area has been transformed into an events space, allowing it to be used outside of normal market opening hours. Calderdale Council’s Cabinet member for Assets and Resources, Coun Mike Payne, said: “Happy 130th birthday to Halifax Borough Market! “Markets are an essential part of life in Calderdale and it was wonderful to celebrate 130 years of the Borough Market building. “We’re passionate about retaining what makes our markets so special, whilst also ensuring they continue to grow and flourish, supporting the next generation of market traders,” he said.
