MITCHELL — Residents in seven central South Dakota counties can apply for economic injury disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration due to drought conditions in the state since March. The seven eligible counties include Aurora, Brule, Charles Mix, Davison, Douglas, Jerauld and Sanborn Counties. ADVERTISEMENTSmall business owners and small agricultural cooperatives are eligible for low interest loans, which are geared toward organizations to be able to meet their ordinary and necessary financial obligations that cannot be met as a result of the disaster. The interest rate is determined by formulas set by law and is fixed for the life of the loan. The maximum interest rate for this program is 4 percent and the maximum loan term is 30 years.
