Speaking at the launch, Prime Minister Fatafehi Fakafanua said: “TRIP III demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring that national development reaches rural communities throughout Tonga.
The prime minister and Brown discussed the Fund’s investment in Tonga’s national priorities on rural development, food and nutrition security, climate resilience, sustainable livelihoods and outer-island development.
Since then, IFAD has invested in six projects in Tonga with total financing of US$53.1 million, including US$22 million from IFAD.
