Hockey: McLain’s charity game a success

BRAINERD — Over 800 fans showed up to watch a combined 28 goals scored in the first ever Be Next McLain Family Foundation Charity Hockey Game Saturday, July 18, at Essentia Health Sports Center in Brainerd.
Team Walters Wacky Adventure won the event 16-12 over Team DucTech Heating and Cooling.
Of the 31 players that played in the charity hockey event 19 had played in the NHL including Minnesota Wild’s Matt Boldy, Mason Shaw and Nate Prosser as well as former Brainerd Warrior and current Chicago Blackhawks forward Cole Smith.
ADVERTISEMENTMitch McLain, the founder of the Be Next McLain Family Foundation, spearheaded the event and is a current defensemen for the Henderson Silver Knights of the AHL.
