Minnesota Duluth has hired Deven Boland as its newest head softball coach, according to a release from the university on Thursday. Deven is connected with key UMD recruiting areas, brings high level coaching experience, and has a clear plan for moving Bulldog softball forward," UMD athletic director Forrest Karr said in a news release. The 2026 Yellowjackets won two games in the NCAA regionals, falling twice at the hands of regional host Florida and making their deepest tournament run since 2010. Boland also served as interim head coach at North Carolina State for most of the 2023 season. Boland is the program’s fourth coach since 2021, though UMD has won 30 games in each of its last 11 completed seasons.
