Former Goldman Sachs exec awarded £1.45m after parental leave dismissal

It is among the largest employment tribunal payouts ever made in the UK.
An employment tribunal in November 2024 found Jonathan Reeves had been unfairly dismissed and discriminated against because of his sex after taking six months’ parental leave.
A Goldman Sachs spokesperson said the bank remained committed to its parental leave policy.
“Goldman Sachs is a market leader in paid parental leave and encourages all working parents – regardless of gender – to take the 26 weeks’ paid leave offered,” the spokesperson said.
Shared parental leave was introduced to help tackle inequality in the workplace and encourage a more equal sharing of caring responsibilities.
