The Cuban Book Institute (ICL) announced Thursday that the Havana International Book Fair (FILH) will take place from August 10 to 16, offering some 1,300 new literary titles with Russia as guest of honor, after the event was originally postponed due to the extraordinary situation caused by the U.S. oil blockade against the island.
The fair had initially been scheduled for February, but organizers communicated at the time that it was put off because of the oil blockade imposed by the Trump administration since January.
Beyond Russia, delegations are also expected from China, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela, Brazil, and Spain, among other nations, the organizers confirmed.
The Reading Festival is Back: From August 10 to 16, the 34th Havana International Book Fair returns with Russia as the guest of honor and dedicated to #100AñosConFidel, this edition promises spaces for children, youth, and adults.
Colloquiums dedicated to Cuban writers Marilyn Bobes and José Bell Lara are also scheduled, along with a specialized social sciences colloquium and another focused on scientific-technical subjects.
