Man dead, infant airlifted to hospital after vehicle veers into DeKalb creek

A man has died and an infant was airlifted to a hospital after the vehicle they were in became submerged upside down in a creek Wednesday. WATCH HERE WATCH HEREAfter a search, a vehicle was found upside down in a creek in the 3100 block of South First Street, according to authorities. The man, who was driving the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. The child was taken out of the vehicle and was airlifted to a Chicago-area hospital, where their condition has since stabilized. According to a press release, four DeKalb police officers suffered injuries during the rescue operation.
