Hastings County assistant Crown attorney Rebecca Gill said jail staff at first reported the transport vehicle had broken down.
“Contemptuous behaviour” After another delay about two hours into the hearing, Horton said jail staff had “ample opportunity” to deliver the prisoner.
She said the case’s complainants, court staff, and justice system “suffered actual harm” and deserved “a remedy” – the contempt hearing.
