The St. Louis Cardinals went into extra innings for the second straight game against the Chicago Cubs, this time falling 4-2 Thursday afternoon at Busch Stadium. The Cubs would get that run back in the fourth after Alex Bregman scored on a throwing error. Both bullpens held strong until the tenth, when the Cubs scored a pair of runs off doubles by Alex Bregman and Ian Happ to give Chicago a 4-2 lead. The Cardinals failed to respond in the bottom of the inning, dropping the game and losing three out of four in the series. The Cardinals fall to 54-55, 13 games back of Milwaukee in the NL Central.
