The fully consented Cwm Ifor Solar Farm project, located near Caerphilly, was sold for almost £2.7 million, with the council’s profit calculated after sale costs and associated fees. Councillor Amanda McConnell, cabinet member for climate change, said: "The Cwm Ifor Solar Farm could power around 6,000 homes with clean electricity, while supporting a more flexible and resilient energy system. Cllr Charlotte Bishop, who leads the council’s Plaid Cymru group, said: “We strongly supported the Cwm Ifor solar farm because it promised both ecological benefits and a valuable long-term income stream for the council. “We were aware that the council was exploring a potential sale of the project. However, local councillors – including myself as the leader of the opposition – were not informed that a sale had actually been agreed.
