Kenya Power has confirmed a nationwide disruption affecting token payment systems, after thousands were unable to purchase prepaid tokens or settle their electricity bills. In a statement on Thursday, July 30, Kenya Power said its prepaid vending and bill payment platforms were unavailable following a system interruption. According to the power company, the outage is affecting token purchases and electricity bill payments across all channels. "Our prepaid vending and bill payment platforms are currently unavailable due to a system interruption affecting token purchases and electricity bill payments across all channels," Kenya Power stated. However, Power was later restored to most affected areas about four hours later after Kenya Power engineers began restoration works.
