Jim Hoss, beloved father, grandfather, big brother and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 at the age of 75. Jim was born in Cheyenne, Wyoming and raised in South Dakota–he carried a lifelong love for his home state, especially the Black Hills. That path led him to the D.C. Cook Plant in Bridgman, MI, where he spent more than 30 years in Project Engineering. Most notably, Jim was a gifted musician, beginning to play music by ear at the age of 9 on an old piano on his family’s farm. He played the piano, organ, banjo, guitar, harmonica, upright bass, various horns and most any instrument he could get his hands on.
