Absa Bank Kenya’s latest sustainability report gives a detailed picture of where its money actually went, and the numbers add up to more than KES 204 billion in sustainable finance disbursed between 2022 and 2025.
KES 6.5 billion went to climate finance, while a much larger KES 48.8 billion went to financial inclusion.
Beyond direct lending, Absa also spent on the systems needed to manage and report on all this money responsibly.
The bank also put money into its own operational sustainability.
Speaking at the report’s launch at Strathmore University, Yusuf Omari, Absa Bank Kenya’s Interim Managing Director and CEO, said the bank is directing capital toward areas where it can create economic, social, and environmental impact.
