The proposal, which seeks the demolition of the existing EG Applegreen petrol station at Woodbridge Road East and replace it with an upgraded site, will be made another day.
Ipswich Borough Council's planning committee met on Wednesday, July 29 to discuss the plans, which had previously been recommended for approval by council's officers, despite concerns from locals.
Plans were submitted in January of this year seeking permission for a new-look service station featuring a new sales kiosk and coffee shop drive-through, fuel pumps with a canopy, high-powered electric vehicle charging points, jet washes and updated landscaping.
But Councillor Carole Jones, who sits on the committee said that as a "significant development" the council wanted more information as how to the expansion will tackle pedestrian safety, noise concerns and traffic.
She confirmed that a site visit would be carried out ahead of the next time plans are brought forward for discussion.
